Hey there,
Ok, so here we are at week three! Nice job sticking with this, committing to your growth and unlimiting your life! This week is going to continue some work on your past.
There is just so much crap and baggage we carry with us that doesn’t need to be lugged around. Like the metaphor I explained earlier, take out all the junk, lay it out, look at it, get rid of some and pack some back in that hall closet where it is there if you need it. Don’t keep carrying it around in your back pocket or purse or sleeve!
The D word…divorce. Maybe this is part of your story as an adult, maybe this is part of your story from childhood. Divorce is so common, regardless of age, race, religious background, it’s prevalent.
Divorce brings with it emotions of rejection, pain, anger, confusion, sadness, anxiety, relief, and many more. Everyone’s experience is different yet can have common themes. In a family where divorce happened as a child it can bring feelings of alienation, like you’re different from everyone else in a negative way.
Identify what feelings you have or had around divorce (your parents’ or your own).
Write it down. There’s power in writing, getting it outside you. Express it.
Decide to let it go, pack it away instead of carrying it around.
Be open to recognizing things you haven’t seen before and didn’t realize to be connected to this hurt. You can always see new pieces and pack them in that old shoebox with the rest of it.
