Hey, hey!
Look how far you’ve come! I hope you stop and take stock of all that you are doing here, all that you are choosing to learn about yourself.
Today I want to talk about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and how we all have a little bit of obsessiveness in us, but in order for it to be clinically diagnosed it has to interfere with our daily lives in a negative and noticeable way (In our home, family, relationships, work, school).
Many people struggle with perfectionism. Perfectionism leads to procrastination. Perfectionism can sometimes just halt us from taking action all together.
Is your desire to get it right keeping you from trying?
Failure isn’t final, when we try something, and it doesn’t turn out right, we learn. And then we can tweak things and try again.
No one is perfect, it can be easy to compare and find yourself lacking, don’t do it (compare). You are you, and you have something unique to give to the world. Don’t keep it to yourself!
What is it that you’d say you’re a bit obsessive about? What does it really come down to? What are you afraid of? What do you convince yourself (this is key) that by doing this thing you will prevent that bad thing?
What you believe is not always truth.
Truth is truth but belief is based on our perspective – not always accurate.
What if what you have believing all along is just not true? Many times we believe something because that’s how it’s always been, what we’ve always known, or what we’ve been told.
Challenge yourself, challenge your beliefs and habits.
Are they grounded in truth?
Are they helping you reach your goals?
Do you have clear goals by which to align your behaviors and habits?
If you haven’t done so already, make a list of goals (or update yours if it’s older).
As we set destinations/goals it is easier to work our way toward it and know when we have arrived. When we come to a place of decision we align the choice with our destination. And then when we arrive it is time to set more goals! I find myself setting more goals and aspirations constantly. I know that I will be growing and changing until I die.
